Tips and detailed strategy

Fair Share is a single-player geometric puzzle. Each round a convex polygon (square, triangle, pentagon, hexagon, or an irregular one) appears, with a target area ratio above it: 1:1, 1:2, 2:3, 1:3, or 3:5. Your job: split the polygon with a single straight line so the two pieces' area ratio is as close to the target as possible. To draw the line, drag anywhere on the canvas and release — the line you release is extended infinitely, so its endpoints don't have to land on the polygon's edges; only the direction and position matter. While dragging, the live percentage of each piece is shown on the piece itself, letting you fine-tune your aim before releasing. On release the round is scored: 0% deviation = 100 points, 10% or worse = 0 points (linear). Press Space or the Next button to advance. The game runs for 10 rounds with a 1000-point ceiling, and your total is saved in your browser. If the line never crosses the polygon (you released entirely outside it) the attempt doesn't count and you can try again. Tip: for rectangles, connecting the midpoints of opposite sides gives a clean 1:1; regular polygons split symmetrically through a vertex and the midpoint of the opposite side. With irregular polygons area is deceiving — a wide corner isn't always the larger area, and a short cut through the interior can sometimes carve off a big chunk.
