Tips and detailed strategy

Tomruk (Log Roll) is a balance game where you try to stay standing on a round log floating in water. The lumberjack starts at the top of the log — you control his footwork. Press the Left/Right arrow (or A/D, or tap the left or right half of the log on mobile) to take a step. Every step does two things: (1) it shifts the lumberjack a small angular distance on the log surface in that direction, and (2) by Newton's third law it adds a small counter-spin to the log in the opposite direction (the walking foot kicks the log out from under). So pressing the right key is not enough on its own; your timing matters too. If the lumberjack drifts off the top, gravity starts rolling the log that way and the roll carries you further off-center — positive feedback. The log's angular velocity itself also slides your position along its surface; if the log is spinning fast, your position changes even when you don't step. There is a short 200 ms cooldown between steps, so spamming buys nothing; you must hit a measured rhythm. Every few seconds a wave arrives: a warning swell appears at one edge of the screen (about 1.4 s before), and then a sharp impulse is applied to the log. The cure is to step against the incoming impulse as soon as you see the swell, before the offset compounds. The gravity gain ramps up a little every second, so the game slowly stiffens. The score is in seconds and your best time is saved in your browser. Tip: the annual rings on the log surface are your reference — if they're spinning fast, the log has accelerated and you should expect more drift; reading that lets you preempt instead of chase. Also keep an eye on the glow at the top of the log — small drifts are recoverable, but once the warning frame turns yellow you need to step now.
