Tips and detailed strategy
Winnowing is a small physics game about separating grain from chaff: a pile of wheat is loaded onto a pitchfork in the middle, the top-left shows a steady wind for the round (direction and strength), and your job is to toss the pitchfork high enough and to position the basket below where the wind will drop the grain. Hold the Space key (or the 'Toss' button on mobile) to charge the toss; release to launch — the longer you hold, the higher it goes and the longer the particles stay airborne, which also affects how far the chaff is blown. Two kinds of particle fly: heavy golden grains arc with a small drift, while light brown chaff is carried by the wind. Each grain that lands in the basket scores +2, each chaff that lands in the basket subtracts 1; anything that misses the basket is ignored. Every round tosses 30 particles and a game is 8 rounds; the wind is rerolled each round. Strategy: if the wind blows right, set the basket to the right of the pitchfork but near where grain arcs land; with strong wind, toss low so chaff drifts less far; with weak wind, toss high to fully separate. Your total grain points are your score and the best is saved in the browser. Press R any time to reset.
