How to play

Tips and detailed strategy

There's a wooden plank of a fixed length on the bench. At the top you see a list of 'Required pieces' (for example 22 cm + 9 cm + 14 cm). Each tap on the plank drops a saw mark; cuts snap to the centimetre ruler so you can produce pieces of exact lengths. Misplaced a cut? Tap the cut line to remove it. Press Space/Enter (or the 'Saw' button) to run the saw: the plank splits and each required piece is matched against a segment of the exact length. Matched pieces light up green, extras (waste) brown, unmet needs red. Score: +10 per matched piece, −4 per unmet need, −1 per cm of leftover waste. The moment you submit, a new plank arrives — your total score over 75 seconds is what counts. The twist: the saw itself is 1 cm thick. Each cut destroys 1 cm of wood as sawdust. To produce three pieces you need two cuts (so 2 cm kerf loss). The required pieces' total is always smaller than the plank by the kerf budget — still, sloppy cuts cost you. A good carpenter mentally adds up the needs cumulatively and drops the saw exactly there (e.g. '22, then 22 + 1 kerf + 9 = 32', etc.). Tips: ruler marks thicken every 5 cm — use them to align. The number above each segment shows its produced length — compare to the list. Always fix mistakes before pressing Saw; the plank is gone once committed. R restarts the round at any time; your high score is saved locally.
