Lathe — free browser game

Lathe turns traditional woodturning into a minimalist precision game on a single canvas. At the center of the stage, a wooden blank — initially a clean cylinder — spins continuously between a headstock and a tailstock; overlaid on it you see a dashed blue target silhouette: a vase, spindle, hourglass, or candle-stand profile. Your one job is to shape the cylinder so its radius at every position matches that target curve. Slide the mouse or finger horizontally to place the triangular chisel under the blank, then press-and-hold to start shaving wood at that spot; on the keyboard left/right arrow nudges the chisel, and down arrow or Space carves. The chisel affects not only the exact column but several neighboring ones with falling intensity — like a real chisel, it leaves a smooth round cut. Each column is colored by state: brown if still too thick, green if inside the blue tolerance band, red if you carved past the target. Even a single red column means the piece is scrap and the round ends; turn every column green to clear the round and add to your score. Each round cycles to a different target shape (vase / spindle / triple-band / cone / hourglass / candle-stand) and the tolerance band shrinks — you start with 9 pixels of breathing room and it tightens down to 4 over time. Strategy: don't park the chisel on one spot for long; tap and slide in short controlled strokes, watching each region snap to green. Yellow sparks confirm wood is actually coming off. Your score is the number of rounds completed and persists in your browser, so you come back to beat your record.
