FAQ

How much tip is standard?

In the US: 15% (acceptable), 18% (good service), 20–25% (excellent). In many European countries, 5–10% is common but not mandatory. In Japan, tipping is generally not practiced.

Should I tip on pre-tax or post-tax?

Etiquette experts recommend tipping on the pre-tax subtotal, though many people tip on the total including tax.

What if a service charge is already included?

Check your bill carefully. If a service charge or gratuity is already added, you are not obligated to tip again.
