Tips and detailed strategy
Treasure Hunt is a mobile-friendly browser puzzle based on the classic guessing game solved with hot-and-cold clues; it brings the 'warm, warmer, you're on fire!' logic of our childhood games onto a grid. For each round a single gold treasure is placed on a hidden 8×8 board, and your job is to find it in as few moves as possible. When you click a cell with the mouse or your finger, a warmth colour appears based on that cell's Manhattan distance to the treasure: bright red means it's a direct neighbour, orange means close, yellow means medium distance, green-to-light-blue means far, and dark blue means you're in the wrong corner of the map. By reading this colour gradient you narrow it down step by step; the moment you step right onto the treasure a gold star glows and the round is won. The scoring places the game in the puzzle-strategy category: each round starts at 500 points, every move you use lowers the score by 60 points, and under any circumstances you earn at least 50 points from a round — so even a thoroughly unlucky round is never zero. After a total of 5 rounds your cumulative score is written to the high-score list in your browser. Strategy tip: don't make your first clicks at random; start by sampling the corners and the centre like a checkerboard — those three or four points quickly narrow the warmth gradient. Then on each move slide one cell toward the 'red side'; if you get two of the same colour in a row, the treasure is near the vertical/horizontal axis halfway between them.
