Tips and detailed strategy
Catch the Sum is an original arcade-puzzle hybrid that blends quick mental arithmetic with reflex. A new TARGET number (e.g. 12) appears at the top of the screen each round; falling number tiles drop in 4 columns (mostly 1–9 positives, plus occasional -1, -2, -3 negatives as the game speeds up) and you ADD them to your BASKET by clicking or tapping. The moment the basket exactly equals the target you score 1 point, the basket resets and a fresh target appears. If the basket OVERSHOOTS the target you lose a life and the basket resets — so think before you grab. Negative tiles are useful when you accidentally overshoot (basket 13, target 12 → grab a '-1' to recover) or when you want flexibility on a big target; grabbing a negative for no reason only pushes you further from the goal. Each column has a keyboard shortcut: 1–4 catches the lowest (closest to the floor) tile in that column — on mobile tapping is faster. A tile that falls off the screen is not penalised, you just miss the chance. As your score grows tiles fall faster and spawn denser; negatives join in after score 6. When all three lives are gone the run ends and your local best is updated. Strategy: for a small target (4–8) wait for one perfect tile, for a big target (15+) grab a medium piece (5–6) first then look for the exact finisher; don't sit idle — the closer your half-full basket is to the target, the higher your overshoot risk.
